But the cafe - favoured by cyclists, runners, walkers and families - will close is doors for the last time this Sunday (June 5).

Mr Hudson-Tyreman, 52, says he invested thousands of pounds into the building but has had no choice but to leave following a dispute with the landlord.

After announcing the closure, he says he was 'courted' by several other landlords and businesses who hoped he would launch a new partnership with them.

Now, it has been revealed that a new venture, The Pedaler on the Port, will open in the historic Clock House at Dover's Marina Curve.

Work is now ongoing in the building to upgrade and kit it out, which was revealed in a 'sneak peak' video posted on The Independent Pedaler's social media.

In the clip, the cafe owner, who runs his business with wife Jeanette Aurdal, says he will transform the 'scruffy building' into 'something amazing'.

Mr Hudson-Tyreman, a former military man and barrister, said: "A lot of people from Dover visited us at The Independent Pedaler, including people from the port.

"They heard about what was going on and they said they'd love to have us down in Dover.

"They liked what we do and what we promote.

"We've developed a really good relationship with them; we don't want to see what happened at Highland Court happening again."

The father of four added: "To me, Dover is the gateway to England. It should be the most prominent, most spoken about town in Kent.

"Every time I drive in there is so much beauty - the cliffs, the castle the port.

"We want to drive people down there."

Mr Hudson-Tyreman, who has been involved in cycling all his life, is also hoping to expand in Thanet later this year.

A post from The Independent Pedaler’s newsletter reads: “Some of you may have heard we are looking to open more than one site and yes this is very true.

“Each will have its own distinct identity whilst at the same time be reassuringly Independent Pedaler in nature.

“We have put a lot of effort in to partnering with amazing and positive people who understand the value we bring to their business.”
