A choir has raised £650 to help the homeless.

Dover's Pharos Chamber Choir did this for the Dover Winter Night Shelter after singing at the town's Beacon Church and Christian Centre.

This is a project run by the Dover Outreach Centre, supported by Christians Together in Dover.

It aims to take the homeless off the streets at night for three months of the year.

It gives them somewhere warm and dry to sleep, a hot meal in the evenings and breakfast the following day.

The service moves to a different location each day with seven different churches in the town offering their premises.

Noel Beamish, speaking for DWNS, told the audience that they also look for permanent accommodation for homeless and rough sleepers.

But, he explained, there is a cost of some £30,000 to keep the service running each year.
