Two men, from Glasgow and Clydebank, stopped at Dover port in terrorism swoop

Two men have been arrested in relation to terrorism offences following a stop at Dover port on Tuesday.

It has now been revealed that a 44-year-old man from Glasgow and a 40-year old man from Clydebank were initially stopped trying to leave the UK.

This was done by Counter Terrorism Border Police officers under Schedule 7 under the Terrorism Act 2000.

After a search of the vehicle they were in, they were arrested on suspicion of preparing acts of terrorism, contrary to Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2000.

A vehicle and several digital devices were seized.

Searches of properties in Glasgow and Clydebank have taken place.

Both men were released on bail pending further inquiries.
