Murder charges following Dover cemetery death

A man and a woman have been charged with murder after a body was discovered in Dover.

Police were called to Cowgate Cemetery in Albany Place on Tuesday at around 7am where the body of Piotr Lacheta was found.

The 55-year-old had suffered injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The pair were arrested on Tuesday and were said to be known to the victim.

On Thursday the Crown Prosecution Service authorised a charge of murder against Claire Lunn, 47 and Justin Burnett, 37, both of no fixed address.

They have been remanded in custody and are due to appear at Margate Magistrates’ Court today.

Det Ch Insp Gavin Moss at Kent Police said: "We are still seeking witnesses and ask anyone with information to come forward as we continue with our inquiries. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank those people we have spoken to so far."
