Dover Athletic midfielder Bedsente Gomis to be disciplined by club after red card against Bromley

Bedsente Gomis will be disciplined by Dover after his dismissal against Bromley, with boss Andy Hessenthaler warning the midfielder he can't overstep the mark again.

Gomis received his marching orders following a clash with Bromley's Jack Holland on Saturday, having only just returned from a three-game ban, given to him retrospectively for an off-the-ball incident against Maidstone over Christmas.

Boss Andy Hessenthaler admitted the Frenchman's team-mates were 'livid' with his sending-off against Bromley, adding that the 30-year-old has been given a warning about his future conduct.

The game at Crabble finished 1-1 after Whites had been reduced to nine men.

Hessenthaler explained: "Clearly there was intent on Bedsente's part, how much contact he made with his head I don't know but he'll be disciplined within the club, he can't do that. He let his team-mates, the fans and the club down.

"We spoke to him afterwards, and he spoke to the group. He's had a warning because he can't do these sort of things, he's made a mistake and he's been told it can't happen again.

"He's going to pay the price by missing more games but we'll also suffer. It's disappointing because we need everyone we can get in our position and he had been playing well."

Whites defender Kevin Lokko was also sent off by referee Adrian Quelch during the same incident but that decision was overturned on Monday – much to Hessenthaler's relief.

He said: "It was pandemonium at the time and I was mystified by what was going on.

"Gomis was sent off and then the fourth official gets involved saying Kevin had done something.

"How he could make a decision like that with so much pushing and shoving going on I don't know.

"Kevin was distraught because he knew he hadn't done anything wrong. Fortunately the decision was rescinded and rightly so."
