Isthmian League round-up as Isthmian Premier frontrunners Dover Athletic, second-placed Cray Valley PM and Cray Wanderers all win; Ramsgate hit Isthmian South East summit after edging to 3-2 win at Sevenoaks Town

An entertaining and topsy-turvy Isthmian Premier match went the way of frontrunners Dover against a spirited Canvey Island team on Saturday.

Canvey netted first early on in unusual fashion and deserved to be ahead at that stage, but Whites forward Ruben Soares-Junior equalised at Crabble to ensure it was level pegging at half-time.

The visitors went ahead again in the second period after an uncharacteristic error by goalkeeper Mitch Walker from a free-kick by two-goal captain Elliott Ronto.

However, Alfie Matthews equalised for Whites on 71 minutes and 15-goal George Nikaj fired in what proved the winning goal as it ended 3-2 to Whites, which extended their unbeaten league run to seven games.

Dover are three points ahead of Cray Valley, who were 1-0 winners at Hastings thanks to winger Michael Ademiluyi’s second-half goal.

Cray Wanderers climbed out of the Isthmian Premier relegation zone thanks to a 4-0 victory at Potters Bar.

Winger Josh Williams bagged a brace, including a second-half penalty, while captain Nyren Clunis and substitute Kenny Coker were also on target for Neil Smith’s side.

Hat-trick hero Joe Taylor ensured Ramsgate moved to the Isthmian South East summit with a 3-2 triumph at Sevenoaks.

Incredibly, Taylor is already on 26 goals for the season in mid-November!

He won it for Ben Smith’s side at the death with a stoppage-time penalty after a goal in either half by striker James Jeffrey and winger Jefferson Aibangbee appeared to have earned Oaks a share of the spoils.

Play-off occupants Margate secured a 3-1 away victory against Three Bridges - at Chatham Town.

While Three Bridges levelled at the Bauvill Stadium, defenders Harrison Hatfull and Harry Hudson struck after the restart, skipper Hudson’s late goal sealing Margate’s latest win.

But both sides were reduced to 10 men by the end, Gate debut Enoch Muwonge getting a second booking in stoppage time.

Second-placed Beckenham lost a six-goal game at Merstham despite efforts from Freddie Nyhus and Louie Theophanous, with the visitors not really recovering from being 2-0 down inside the first 10 minutes.

Two-goal Ife Oni led the way as Deal ran out 3-1 home winners against Littlehampton to respond after back-to-back defeats.

All the goals came in the second period, Littlehampton levelling after teenager Archie Hatcher’s goal before young substitute Oni bagged a brace off the substitutes’ bench.

With the goals coming in the first half for Danny Kedwell’s troops, forward Louis Collins was at the double after experienced midfielder James Dunne’s penalty in the 13th minute.
