Dover Athletic manager Chris Kinnear reacts to home defeat to Solihull Moors

Chris Kinnear admits Dover need to find 'solutions' after dropping to the foot of the National League on Saturday.

Dover's 2-0 home defeat to Solihull Moors, coupled with fellow strugglers Braintree's surprise 1-0 win at Gateshead, resulted in the two sides swapping places at the bottom of the table.

Whites have won just one of their opening 11 league games with four of their seven defeats coming at Crabble. Their sole victory was the 4-3 success against Havant & Waterlooville on August 14.

Kinnear met with Dover's directors shortly after the Solihull game had finished and emerged to reveal that everyone at the club is working hard to pull the situation around.

He said: "In all the games we've not been far away. It's not like we've been smashed by anyone (the 4-0 defeat at Fylde is their heaviest loss), we're that close.

"We're all trying to find ways to move the club on and get better results. I've been here a long time, everybody just wants what's best for the club.

"None of us wants to be where we are but you just get your head down and move on."

Kinnear admits the Solihull game was not a great spectacle but felt his team did enough to get something.

He was however disappointed by the nature of Solihull's goals, scored in the closing 18 minutes by Jermaine Hylton and Danny Wright.

He added: "To be fair it wasn't the greatest game, but they're a very effective side.

"They've got a lot of experience, the fellow who scored the second goal (Wright) was the top scorer in this league two years ago.

"They were two really bad goals to give away, there's no doubt about it, but that's what's been happening.

"We've been in the game, no different to the other side, but we give a silly goal away and they don't.

"The first goal was always going to be important and we are very, very disappointed.

"One or two lads did well, I think everyone gave 100% but it was one of those games, I don't think the referee helped, he kept breaking it up but we've got to all work together and try and go forward.

"It's probably two steps forward (the draws against Ebbsfleet and Chesterfield) and one back, but we've all got to be positive.

"I'm not going to moan about the players, we've just got to find a way and solutions. That's what it is, you find solutions, you don't feel sorry for yourself."
