Dover Athletic 1 Bristol Rovers 1 Vanarama Conference match report

Dover Athletic midfielder Ricky Modeste dented Bristol Rovers' title-winning aspirations after scoring a dramatic late equaliser to earn his side a share of the points in a 1-1 draw at Crabble.

Modeste, who has signed a new deal to stay with Whites, scrambled the ball home from close range two minutes from time after goalkeeper Will Puddy failed to deal with a corner to silence the army of more than 1,600 visiting fans.

The draw meant Rovers stayed second, one point behind Barnet with one game to play while Whites remain eighth. Rovers would have gone top had they won after Barnet drew 1-1 at Kidderminster.

Earlier, Ellis Harrison volleyed Rovers ahead in the 64th minute after fellow striker Nathan Blissett headed a Chris Lines free-kick back across the face of the six-yard box.

In a game of few chances, Puddy was the first goalkeeper to be tested when he easily saved Solomon Taiwo's shot from the edge of the box in the third minute.

Mitch Walker in the Dover goal had nothing to do until he comfortably saved from Blissett in the 19th minute.

The towering Blissett then headed wide before half-time but made amends after beating Walker from close range to put his side ahead 19 minutes after the break.

The three points and top spot looked set to be heading to the blue half of Bristol before Modeste gate-crashed the party with his third league goal of the season to ensure the title race would go down to the final day.
