Dover have been busy bolstering their ranks.

Whites kick-off their National League South campaign at newly-promoted Isthmian Premier champions Worthing this Saturday after a disappointing pre-season.

Frontman Chike Kandi, 26, joined the Crabble club on Thursday after a trial appearance in their 1-0 defeat at Folkestone last weekend while teenage Academy graduate Alex Green has penned his first professional contract, with that news being announced on the same day.

Kandi, who came up through the youth ranks at Chelsea and Brighton, made 35 National League appearances at Aldershot before he made the move to Dulwich Hamlet last season.

There, he made 32 appearances for the National League South outfit, as he played with midfielder Jordan Higgs.

Speaking about Kandi earlier this week, manager Andy Hessenthaler said: “The striker we had, we quite liked him.

“He should have scored, to be fair, but he was a handful with his pace.”

Defender Green, 19, made his National League debut as a second-half substitute against Boreham Wood last August before a foot injury ruled him out for the season.

But former Academy captain Green proved his fitness during pre-season and has now earned his opportunity.

Green has done so despite Whites recently being beaten 1-0 by Southern Counties East Division 1 Larkfield & New Hythe before a 3-0 loss at 10-man Isthmian South East side Ramsgate last Wednesday, three days before their latest reverse, ahead of the big kick-off.

He joins fellow Academy graduates Will Moses, Noah Carney, Harrison Byford, George Nikaj, Luke Baptiste and George Wilkinson in Hessenthaler’s new-look squad.

The club have since made a third signing, as they have brought in goalkeeper Ryan Sandford from Championship club Millwall on loan.
