At least 10 officers were seen chasing a man following the incident at a block of flats in Breeze Meadow shortly after 8.30pm.

Footage sent to KentOnline shows police initially trying to gain access to the building.

A man is then seen fleeing the estate and running towards the junction with Western Link, in the direction of Sainsbury’s and Oare Gunpowder Works, with his hands above his head.

Two officers with guns then apprehend the suspect at the roundabout, shouting: “Stay there - armed police. Get down on the floor.”

A further seven officers arrive, followed by dog handlers, and a police car pulls up before the man is detained.

Two knives were also reportedly recovered from the scene.
