Moment ‘senseless’ burglars smash into Faversham Boots store

A “senseless” burglar who swiped £6,300 worth of goods from a Boots store in two night-time raids has been jailed.

CCTV footage captured the moment Matthew Robinson smashed his way into the Faversham town centre pharmacy and stuffed bottles of perfume and aftershave into holdalls with his pal Dean Boorman.

They fled with filled bags from the shop in Preston Street but returned moments later to continue the raid in the early hours of February 12, 2023.

Police arrested the two burglars on separate occasions and both were charged.

Robinson, 44, of Mount Field, Faversham, pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary and going equipped for theft.

He was sentenced to a year’s imprisonment on Monday at Maidstone Crown Court.

Dean Boorman, 38, of Brook Road, Faversham, previously pleaded guilty to the double burglary and was given a one-year suspended sentence.

Chief Inspector Vanessa Foster said: “The senseless actions of these individuals had a significant impact on the local community and their brazenness in returning to the crime scene to steal further is deplorable.

“I am pleased they have been sentenced, and hope it serves as a reminder we will always track down perpetrators and bring them before the courts to face justice.”
