Faversham housing development Tylman Place completed at old garden furniture factory site

The transformation of a disused industrial site into a 105-home estate is now complete.

Construction at Tylman Place, off Graveney Road in Faversham, has ended - three years after a planning application to build on the eyesore land was submitted.

The site was previously home to the Nova garden furniture factory but the old offices and warehouses had stood derelict for years since its closure in 2009.

Bellway set its sights on the land after Swale Borough Council allocated it for development in its Local Plan, the authority’s blueprint for future housing schemes. In exchange for getting the green light, developers were required to pump about £1 million into the town’s infrastructure.

After about two years of construction, work is now complete and the remaining homes - ranging from three to four bed properties - are on the market.

“These ranged from one-bedroom apartments to four-bedroom detached houses.

“We have created an attractive selection of homes on land which had been awaiting development for many years.

“Help to Buy has helped many of our customers to secure their new home with a five per cent deposit and a 20 per cent equity loan backed by the government.

“In addition to providing new homes, this former employment site has once again supported jobs throughout our build programme.

“The local economy will continue to benefit from the new residents who have come to live at Tylman Place.”

Town estate agents say Faversham’s housing market is currently going “ballistic” due to re-emergence of interest following peak lockdown and the recently-announced freeze on stamp duty.

The average price for a property in the town is currently £313,160, down 12.19% since 12 months ago. The homes yet to be sold at Tylman Place are up for between £320,000 and £455,000.
