Traffic was reportedly at a standstill and drivers were warned to expect up to 50 minute delays.

The incident caused issues between Junction 6 for the A251 Ashford Road and Junction 5 at the Stockbury roundabout for the A249.

A police spokesman said officers attended alongside paramedics.

The road reopened shortly before 6.30pm but delays were expected to remain until between 7pm and 7.15pm, according to Traffic England.

One lane of the exit slip road on the coastbound M2 at junction 5 was closed following a separate incident.

The M2 also suffered delays earlier today after a caravan overturned and three vehicles collided in separate incidents on the motorway.
