Teynham: Police to close part of A2 London Road to investigate crash which killed Barbara Phipps

A fatal crash which left a cyclist dead was partially reconstructed when police closed a busy road today.

The A2 London Road in Teynham was shut between Station Road and Frognal Lane from 9am until around 1pm.

It follows the death of 73-year-old Barbara Phipps, who was cycling in the village when she was hit by a Co-op delivery lorry on Saturday, February 13.

The road closure allowed officers from the serious collision investigation unit to carry out further inquiries at the scene.

It involved a partial reconstruction to help officers find out the circumstances of the collision.

A 58-year-old man, from Essex, remains on bail until July 5.

Barbara's four daughters and son paid tribute to her at the time. They said: “She was a very loving, caring mum who interacted with many people in and around the village.

“We are all very touched and appreciate all of the kind messages and tributes from the members of the local community at this difficult time.”
