Father and son Matt and Archie Clayton appear of TV after Sinatra sing-along video goes viral

A father and his six-year-old son, whose video of them singing their hearts out to Frank Sinatra went viral last week, have now appeared on TV in America.

When KentOnline published dash-cam footage of Matt Clayton and son Archie performing a heart-melting rendition of the jazz icon’s Me and My Shadow as they drove along in their car, it already had an impressive 22,000 views.

But this week, they have had more than two million and have even been interviewed on American TV.

WGN Morning News, based in Chicago, interviewed the newly-famous duo of Hazebrouck Road and played the footage to their huge audience across the pond.

Salesman Matt, 36, who sings in swing band Our Way and also performs with the Dover Operatic and Dramatic Society, has been completely overwhelmed by the response.

He said: “Me and my wife Gemma keep looking at each other and shaking our heads, we just can’t believe it.

“It was surreal speaking to the guys in America.

“It is also really nice as most of the comments have been about how me and Archie look like great mates, and it is just everyday stuff for us but it means a lot that so many people have noticed that.”

Presenter of WGN Morning News Robin Baumgarten said since they had posted the video on their site, people “had loved it”.

Many of the comments online suggest that Late Late Show presenter James Corden, known for his carpool karaoke, should pick up on the video, which has fast become an international sensation.

But it is not the internet star dom, the millions of views and the American fame that has Luddenham Primary School pupil Archie excited.

Matt said: “He doesn’t really understand the number of views etc but it is the paper which he really appreciates.

“He can keep the article in the Faversham News as something special and show it to his friends.”

Archie said last week: “I really like Frank Sinatra. There are no other singers I like as much.

“I like his voice a lot and I love singing along, but I think my dad is probably a better singer than me.

“My friends have all said ‘well done Archie’ and my mum is very proud of us.”
