Water safety fear as boat sinks in Faversham Creek

A large fishing boat has sunk in the Swale.

The Peel Ports group is warning sailors that part of Faversham Creek, near to Oare, is blocked by the vessel, believed to be called Cardium.

Fisherman Mark Hamilton says that the boat has been moored there for several years but has only sunk in the last week or so.

The wreck is visible at high water and can be completely seen at low tide, but Mr Hamilton is worried about sailors who may not know it is there.

He said there were going to be a lot of boats going through over the extended Easter holidays and beyond that might not be aware of it.
