Faversham racer Finn Smart-Weeden finishes second in Junior Supersport NG

Finn Smart-Weeden had to settle for a second place championship finish after crashing out at Castle Combe.

The Junior Supersport NG round two started well enough for the Faversham rider as he led the class championship after finishing fourth overall and second in class in race one.

On Sunday, in race two, the 13-year-old Queen Elizabeth Grammar School pupil got a good start but had to take a defensive move when a rider in front of him sat up halfway through a turn. It didn’t work out and Finn crashed, causing a fair amount of damage to the bike which meant he had to withdraw from race three.

He still finished second in the championship overall and got one more point towards his national licence.

This weekend Smart-Weeden races in the last round of BSB Junior SuperSport being held at Donington Park, hoping to improve his championship position, assuming his mechanic dad can repair the damage from Castle Combe.
