FAVERSHAM'S Natalie Olson, representing England in her first year as a junior, was joint winner of the pole vault at the Lansing Linde International at Cardiff.

She shared the honours with old adversary Erin Kinnear, from Ireland, both clearing 3m 60cm.

The previous day at Chelmsford National Olson won the Kent junior pole vault crown with two vaults in the county indoor championships.

Opening with a first-time clearance of 3m40 she successfully cleared 3m60 for the gold and conserved her energy for the international the next day.

Laura Fox, from Headcorn, near Maidstone, took gold in the shot with 11.97m and a busy Darren Hatton won gold in the shot and silvers in the pole vault and and long jump.

Ashford’s Lisa Dobriskey took a team gold for Loughborough in the British Universities cross country championships at Oxford. She finished a fine fourth.
