Crash causes delays at Roundhill Tunnel in Folkestone

Motorists are facing long delays after a crash at a tunnel.

The A20 heading coastbound was blocked approaching the Roundhill Tunnel in Folkestone after the accident between the end of the M20 and the tunnel entrance.

Congestion stretches back to junction 12 for Cheriton.

Traffic has been released in one of the two lanes.

The other remains closed due to a collapsed drain cover which will require repair before it can be reopened.

Police are at the scene.

A spokesman said: "We were called at 5.37am to a collapsed drain cover on the coast bound carriageway of the A20 close to junction 13.

"Lane closures are in place causing delays. Police and Highways are at the scene.

"It appears more than one vehicle has suffered damage, although details are not clear at this stage."
