Crews have been battling a blaze at a historic former hotel, which started in the early hours of this morning.
Firefighters were called to the derelict Rhodesia Hotel in Clifton Crescent, Folkestone just after 2.30am.
At its height, seven fire engines were in attendance, along with a height vehicle.
The inferno is believed to be fully extinguished, but two engines remain at the scene to dampen down hotspots.
A fire service spokesman said: “People living or travelling near Clifton Crescent in Folkestone are no longer being advised to avoid the area and keep windows and doors closed.
“Two fire engines and a height vehicle remain at the scene.
“While the fire is believed to be out, crews are still using the height vehicle to dampen down any remaining hotspots.”
In an update issued at 1pm, the fire service said crews were continuing to implement control measures and make sure there are no hotspots.
A spokesperson added: “Building Inspectors are in attendance to assess the safety of the building.”
The building dates back to the Victorian era and is Grade II-listed.
It was once owned by the founder of Saga, Sidney De Haan, and marketed as the ideal location for the over-60s looking for a coastal getaway.
This ultimately led to the creation of the holiday company.
