Child's play park letter to Shepway District Council left with no contact details

A child wrote a letter to a district council asking for a play park to be installed in an empty green space.

The handwritten letter, inked in green pen, was initially addressed to the Kent County Council offices in Maidstone - but has been handed to Shepway District Council, the authority that deals with play parks for Folkestone, Hythe and Romney Marsh.

But despite the letter falling into the correct hands, it is not known who sent it, or where in the Shepway district the child is referring to.

A part of the letter says: "Me and all the kids think there should be a park on our green because it isn't being used.

"Also, me and the other kids who live here are bored because there is nothing to do round our estate.

"It would be great if you could build us a park on our empty green."

The appeal has now been launched on social media to track down the child or their parents.

It has been shared on Facebook more than 130 times.

A statement from SDC said: "We have had a letter from a child who wants a new play park in a green space near their home on an estate where they live.

"It was addressed to Kent County Council but has ended up with us as play areas are our responsibility.

"We would love to talk to the child to see if we can help but unfortunately he or she didn’t put their address on the letter.

"Please share this post and get in touch if you know who this could be from by emailing shaun.taylor@shepway.gov.uk."
