Detectives are investigating reports a man threatened a driver with a suspected firearm in broad daylight.
It is alleged the suspect spoke to the occupant of a car parked in Manor Road, Folkestone, and subsequently threatened the driver.
They were able to leave the scene without further issue, police say.
Officers were called to the area after the incident between 3.30pm and 4.15pm on Sunday, April 13 and arrested a man.
Jacob Farrell, 30, of Little Chequers in Ashford, was charged the following day with offences including possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear, and possession of class A drugs.
He appeared at Folkestone Magistrates Court and was remanded in custody.
The case will next be heard at Canterbury Crown Court later this month.
