Police and coastguard called to Folkestone Warren after reports of teenagers stuck on cliff

Emergency services rushed to cliffs, after a group of teenagers were reportedly seen stuck on a vertical drop.

Police and coastguard officers were called to the Folkestone Warren near Capel-le-Ferne on Saturday following a call from a worried onlooker.

A spokesman for HM Coastguard said: "HM Coastguard received a call from a concerned member of the public just after 4pm on Saturday reporting a group of teenagers who were possibly stuck on a cliff at the Warren, close to a very sheer cliff drop.

"Folkestone, Deal and Langdon Battery Coastguard Rescue Teams, along with Kent Police were sent to investigate the area."

But the coastguard added that the search was called off later that night: "After a thorough search of the area nothing was found and all teams were stood down."

A police spokeswoman said: "Police were called to The Warren, Folkestone at around 4pm on Saturday, March 30 following a report of concern for teenagers who were apparently stuck on a cliff.

"The Coastguard were called and searched for the teenagers. Nothing was found and the search stood down."
