A woman has been arrested after a house fire in Folkestone last night.

Firefighters were called to the property in Wood Avenue at around 9.45pm where smoke was billowing out of the windows.

A 49-year-old has since been arrested on suspicion of arson and remains in police custody.

Crews forced the door open as nobody was home, and tackled the blaze in the first-floor bedroom.

Crews had left the scene by 11.15pm.

There are no reports of any injuries.
