Man and two women arrested after 2am raid at The Samuel Peto Wetherspoon pub in Folkestone

A man and two women have been arrested after alcohol was stolen during a break-in at a Wetherspoon pub.

Police were called to The Samuel Peto in Rendezvous Street, Folkestone, shortly after 2am today (Thursday) following reports bottles of alcohol had been taken and a window smashed.

Officers carried out searches in the town and detained a 37-year-old man and two women, aged 38 and 50, all from the local area.

Alcohol was recovered nearby and the trio were taken into custody, where they remain while inquiries continue.

The pub, which was formerly a Baptist church, is named after Victorian railway contractor Sir Samuel Peto, and opened in 1998.
