Man arrested after armed siege

A MAN brandishing knives was finally restrained by officers in Folkestone last night after a two-hour stand off.

A 33-year-old man, who has not been named, was still in custody today after being arrested on suspicion of threats to kill and criminal damage.

Specialist officers, including dog handlers and trained negotiators, were called to an address in Warren Road at about 8.20pm last night after reports of a disturbance and doors being kicked. There they were confronted by a violent man.

Initially, he would not let members of the team into the house. It took until 10.30pm to gain entry and finally arrest him.

No one was hurt in the incident and there was no one else in the house at the time.
