Lyminge murder investigation: Man bailed following death of woman in Station Road

A man who was arrested on suspicion of murder following a woman's death has been released on bail, police have confirmed.

Officers were called to the village of Lyminge, lunchtime on Sunday - Valentine's Day - after reports of a woman’s body found at an address in Station Road.

A witness said several police cars and ambulances were in the street, close to a row of shops which include Spicy Touch takeaway and the now closed Post Office, which was part of the Quick Check convenience store.

Parts of the road were also cordoned off and a forensics van was also spotted near the scene.

Police remained in the village yesterday, in the car park near Lyminge library, while inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances.

A 36-year-old man from Deal was arrested on suspicion of murder and taken in custody. Today police confirmed he has been released on bail until March 15, while inquiries continue.

The woman's death is being investigated by the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate.
