Man taken to hospital after house fire at Blenheim Drive, Hawkinge near Folkestone

A man has been take to hospital following a house fire in Hawkinge.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to Blenheim Drive, near Folkestone to reports of the blaze just before 1am this morning.

Two engines attended the scene of the fire, believed to have started due to an electrical fault.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire which started in the kitchen and spread to the living room, as well as a positive pressure ventilation fan.

A man suffering with the effects of smoke inhalation was taken to hospital by paramedics.

The scene was made safe by 2am.

A SECAmb spokesman said: "We attended the scene and a man, suffering from smoke inhalation, was assessed and treated at the scene before being taken to William Harvey Hospital."
