Frustrated drivers are predicting “pandemonium” following the closure of a busy route for more than a week.
Park Farm Road in Folkestone links the town centre with the M20 and A20 and is home to Folkestone Primary and The Beacon School.
It also takes drivers to the Park Farm Industrial Estate which holds businesses such as Sainsbury’s and McDonald’s.
It is currently closed near the junction with Downside and is not set to reopen until February 11, according to One Network.
This is due to gas works being undertaken by supplier SGN.
The Beacon School warned parents about the closure in a Facebook post this morning.
Bosses said: “There is a road closure on Park Farm Road. If you are driving to school today please approach from the Sainsbury’s end.
“Let’s hope whatever has caused the road closure will be resolved quickly!”
Residents on social media fear the closure of the main artery will cause traffic chaos.
Lucy McGirr commented: “We will have to leave early for school.
“It only affects mornings for us as we walk in afternoons, but the pandemonium this will cause!”
Becky Ann added: “Hopefully people will avoid that area at school times if they can, but I doubt it.”
SGN has been contacted for more information.
