Pictures show a red Audi A1 and a blue Renault Clio with damage at the Cheriton Road and Cherry Garden Avenue junction.

At least one police vehicle, an ambulance and three fire engines were called to the intersection.

Paramedics confirmed “one person, with injuries not thought to be serious, has been taken to hospital for further checks”.

KCC Highways says drivers should “expect delays in the area” while the incident continues to be dealt with.

It comes less than eight months after KentOnline revealed the crash-hit junction is set to be redesigned after funding for improvements was confirmed, having been identified as a “crash cluster site” by highway bosses.

Kent County Council is in the early stages of the design and feasibility work.

There were 11 recorded crashes at the site in the space of four years between 2018 and 2022 - three of which were ‘serious incidents’, according to crash data website CrashMap.
