Third image issued after distraction theft in Sandgate Road, Folkestone

Police have released an image of a third person they want to speak to, after a 90-year-old woman lost £500 in a distraction theft.

Maria Lenko, who is almost completely blind, had withdrawn the money from the Nationwide branch in Sandgate Road, Folkestone, on January 9, and placed it in a zipped-up pouch in her trolley.

Afterwards, between midday and 1pm, she was approached twice by a group of men, the first time in WHSmith, and a second time while she walked outside in Sandgate Road.

When she got home, she noticed the cash was missing from her trolley.

She told KentOnline she believes she was an easy target.

A police spokesperson said: “Officers investigating the incident have now released images of three people they would like to identify, as they may have information which could assist enquiries.”

Images of the two other men were put out by police four days ago.
