The fast-food chain has five branches across the county and more than 130 restaurants in the UK.

It has not confirmed the reasons behind the closure but in a statement to KentOnline, bosses at the franchise said: “We can confirm that this location is closed.

“Fans can visit https://locations.tacobell.co.uk to find their nearest Taco Bell.”

The restaurant - opposite the town centre McDonald's - is now set to be vacant again after Argos relocated to the Sainsbury's supermarket at Park Farm.

In January 2023, Taco Bell opened its second restaurant in the town at the Folkestone Stop24 services at junction 11 near Hythe.

In December, the American company unveiled its newest Kent store at Westwood Cross near Broadstairs.

The chain, which was founded by Glen Bell in California in 1962, offers a range of Mexican-influenced bites including tacos, burritos and quesadillas.

It brought its first restaurant to the UK in June 2010.
