Folkestone: Two people injured after crash in Castle Hill Avenue following Hythe Waitrose burglary

Two people have been left seriously injured in a car crash as suspects fled a supermarket burglary.

Police were responding to a reported break-in in the early hours of this morning at Waitrose in Hythe.

As they attended, a vehicle with three people inside left the scene and headed towards Folkestone just before 4.30am.

A car was soon involved in a crash in Castle Hill Avenue - with the accident being referred to the police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

When asked if the crash was as a result of a pursuit or controlled stop, police did not confirm.

Castle Hill Avenue is currently closed between Bouverie Road West and Sandgate Road.

Motorists are advised to use an alternative route where possible.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for anyone with any information regarding this incident including residential CCTV or dashcam footage.
