A woman is in custody after a suspected assault.

Officers were called at just before 8pm last night to a disturbance in Sandgate High Street.

A 56-year-old woman from Sandgate was arrested on suspicion of assault.

Separately, a distressed man who at the time was on top of a nearby building was led away to safety by healthcare professionals.

It is not clear if the two incidents are linked.

A police spokesman added: "The incident of the man being on top of the building did not form part of the woman’s arrest."
