Kent Police appeal after would-be thief tries to take till in Hythe High Street

A would-be thief attempted to steal a till and access a restricted area in two high street businesses.

Between 10.30am and 11.30am on Friday, the suspect entered two shops in Hythe.

In one store, he tried to gain entry to a private area, while in the other he is said to have attempted to take the till.

The man is described as being about 6ft tall, in his 40s, and was wearing a dark coat and carrying a black backpack.

Police are urging anyone with information to make contact.

A spokesperson said: "Officers are investigating reports of two incidents in Hythe High Street and are appealing for any witnesses or those with CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward."

Anyone who may have seen the man or has any relevant footage is asked to call police on 01843 222289, quoting reference 46/26053/25.
