Cricket match with strong Euro flavour

FOR cricket lovers wanting to sample a little Gallic flare or Germanic discipline, Folkestone Cricket Club’s Cheriton Road Ground is the place to be over the August Bank Holiday Weekend.

A Kent XI will do battle against the national sides from Belgium, France and Germany for the European Cricket Challenge title held in conjunction with Shepway District Council.

The action starts at 10.30am on Sunday, August 24, with Kent versus France followed by a second 20-overs per side match between Germany and Belgium.

Monday will feature a plate play-off between the previous day’s losers, followed by the Challenge final of 40 overs each starting at 1.30pm.

Admission is £10 for a car and all occupants or £3 per adult and £1 for six to 18 year-olds. For further details contact 01303 245368.
