Folkestone manager Jay Saunders has made a former Dover captain his first summer signing.
Centre-back Kevin Lokko, 29, joins Isthmian Premier Invicta from Maidenhead United, reuniting with Saunders, whom he worked alongside at Maidstone.
“I’m absolutely delighted to bring Kev to the club,” Saunders told the club website on Monday morning.
“As soon as I got the job, we had conversations.
“Kevin is a player I’ve enjoyed working with in the past and he has been superb when I’ve come up against him since.
“He has a great attitude and is a great leader and, when we spoke, he really bought into what we want to do here at Folkestone.
“I’m delighted to make Kevin our first summer signing as we look to build our squad.”
Lokko was on the books of Norwich City and Colchester United early in his career before making his breakthrough into senior football with Welling United in the National League.
Saunders signed Lokko at the Gallagher Stadium in the 2016 summer where an impressive season caught the eye of League 2 side Stevenage.
Lokko then played at Folkestone’s fierce rivals Dover, where he led the Crabble club, between 2018 and 2020 as he made more than 50 club appearances.
He has also appeared for a number of National League clubs, including Dagenham & Redbridge, Aldershot and, most recently, enjoyed a two-year spell at Maidenhead United.
Folkestone fans will get the chance to put questions to Saunders and chairman Josh Healey at a fans’ forum tonight.
