Folkestone have agreed to sign a former Worthing, Enfield and Queen of the South striker.
Jake Hutchinson, 23, became the latest member of Jay Saunders’ new-look Isthmian Premier side on Friday after departing National League South Enfield at the end of their 2024/25 campaign.
Sussex-born Hutchinson began his career at Brighton before moving to Colchester where he had loan spells with Tonbridge Angels, Eastbourne Borough and Aldershot.
After departing Colchester in 2023, he joined Scotland’s Queen of the South before returning to England, initially with Worthing and, later, with Enfield.
“Jake’s a player we know well,” Invicta manager Saunders told the club website.
“He scored against our Tonbridge team last season when he was at Enfield and Parky (coach Tom Parkinson) played with him at Tonbridge when he was on loan from Colchester.
“We’ve tried to sign him a couple of times.
“We had a really good meeting with him about what we can offer to get the best out of him and how he can improve.
“He’s still young – he’s only 23 and he’s a good size - a hard worker and a good finisher.
“And if we can supply him with chances, he will score goals.”
The news comes on the same day that goalkeeper Jonny Henly departs.
Henly, 31, joined Invicta in 2024 and made 45 appearances.
Saunders explained: “Jonny was under contract for the 2025/26 season - but we had approaches from two other clubs and I felt it was in the interest of both parties to allow those conversations to take place.
“Jonny’s a good guy and I know supporters will miss his presence at the club but, ultimately, I’ve decided to go in a different direction for next season.
“We wish him all the best and we’re working hard on a replacement.”
Others to have committed to play for Folkestone in 2025/26 are teenage midfielder Mikey Berry, who follows Saunders to Cheriton Road from Tonbridge, ex-Hastings and Worthing defender Ollie Black and youth-team product midfielder Brad Walledge, who will link-up with the first-team squad.
Data analyst Andy Morris will also be taking on the kit manager role while physio Beth Cooper has left.
