Gravesend apprentice dubbed 'rising star' by UK Power Networks

A 19-year-old apprentice has been tipped to be the next big thing by one of the county's largest power suppliers.

Joe Lewis, from Gravesend , scooped the coveted Apprentice Rising Star award at UK Power Networks' recognition ceremony.

The teen recently completed his three-year apprenticeship with the company where he trained as a substation fitter.

He is one of 41 apprentices who have qualified this year and joined UK Power Networks.

Joe said: "I'm really proud to have received this award and be recognised by colleagues.

"This is just the start of my career in UK Power Networks Services and I'm looking forward to the future within the company."

Chief executive of UK Power Networks, Basil Scarsella, said: "Apprentices are the future of the organisation and in a changing industry it's important we continue to renew the skills."
