Traffic will be diverted off the A2 and back on again at the next junction.

In addition, the hard shoulder, nearside lane and the entry slip road to the A2 coast-bound carriageway at Marling Cross, by Nell’s Cafe, will be closed for 12 to 15 days.

Gas company SGN says the closure will be in place while it completes the work to “reinstate the road surface”.

It says all motorists will be diverted off the A2 and can rejoin at the next junction.

The company said: “We are sorry for the inconvenience caused to the local community and are working to complete this work as safely and quickly as possible.

Thank you for your understanding and patience.”
