Arrest after teenage boy stabbed near Northfleet Railway Station

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested after another teenage boy was stabbed in Northfleet.

Police were called to reports of an assault near the railway station in Ebbsfleet Walk last night shortly after 5.20pm.

The victim received arm injuries consistent with a stab wound and was treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital. The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A spokesman for the South East Coast Ambulance Service said: "I can confirm we were called at approximately 5.20pm yesterday to Station Road, Northfleet, to reports of an assault.

"Ambulance crews attended the scene and one patient, with injuries including an arm injury, was assessed and treated before being taken to hospital."

Police say a 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of assault and remains in custody while inquiries continue.

One resident, who did not wish to be named, said: "A young lad, not sure of age but probably teenager, was taken in the ambulance bandaged up in hands and arms.

"We had numerous police cars turn up blocking off Station Road and then police sniffer dog van approximately 6.30pm.

"They were obviously looking for an object - not sure if it was found."
