BMW driver arrested after car crashes and overturns on the A2 at Shorne

A motorist has been arrested on suspicion of drug-driving after his BMW crashed and rolled over on the A2 during the early hours of this morning.

Police, firefighters and paramedics were called to the coast-bound carriageway shortly before 4am after the single car collision.

It is understood the driver and his passenger were able to get out of the vehicle by the time crews arrived.

No one suffered any serious injury as a result of the crash, but the driver and another person were taken to hospital as a precaution.

Police spokesman Amanda Wills said: "Kent Police were called at 3.55am.

"The driver, a 24-year-old man from London, was arrested on suspicion of drug-driving.

"He and his passenger were both taken to a local hospital."
