Cash boost for Ebbsfleet United following friendlies against West Ham United and Gillingham

Liam Daish is waiting to find out whether he will be given any of the profits from two pre-season friendlies against West Ham and Gillingham at Stonebridge Road to boost his playing budget.

Ebbsfleet wouldn’t confirm actual figures but could expect to bank at least £10,000 from the two games, after pulling in more than 1,200 for the hastily arranged 3-1 defeat against a Hammers XI last Friday and around 800 for the 1-0 win over a young Gills side on Monday night.

The Fleet boss (pictured) said that the ‘all pay’ idea against the Hammers was to help boost finances.

Asked this week whether he would receive any of it to spend on players, he responded: "That’s a question for the people at the top.

"I haven’t spent all my budget, Derek Duncan leaving the club has released a little bit but there isn’t a lot left.

"We are two weeks away from the start of the season and we haven’t got a big squad.

"Transfer windows operate in Conference Premier so that comes into play and I need to be told pretty quickly what we can afford and whether we can do anything. Perhaps it will stimulate people and give a true picture of the situation."

Daish says decisions on trialists including former Southend defender John Herd, ex-Charlton midfielder Alex Stavrinou and Nytram Dixon-Baker, will revolve around finances.
