Daughter, 22, faces murder charge

A YOUNG woman appeared in court at Dartford today accused of murdering her 50-year-old father.

Hazel Thomas, 22, of Lorton Close, Gravesend, is charged with stabbing Stephen Akers. Police were called to her home last Thursday. Mr Akers was later taken to Darent Valley Hospital, Dartford, where he was pronounced dead.

The magistrates granted Miss Thomas conditional bail. Joseph Anoom, prosecuting, appealed the decision. It will be heard before Maidstone Crown Court within the next 48 hours.

Whatever the outcome of the bail hearing, Miss Thomas is due to appear before the crown court next Monday.
