Ebbsfleet United cruised to victory over St Albans at Stonebridge Road on Saturday and condemned their opponents to relegation from Blue Square Bet South.

Two goals in each half secured the points for Liam Daish’s side against a visiting side that offered very little attacking threat.

Fleet applied early pressure and found themselves two up within half an hour.

Clint Easton’s cross from the left was met by Calum Willock (pictured), who was back in the starting line-up following a hamstring injury, and he rose above the defence to head the ball home after 26 minutes.

Liam Daish’s side added a second on the half-hour mark when Ashley Carew’s free-kick fell to Ram Marwa in six-yard box and he made no mistake.

St Albans failed to threaten at the other end and Fleet went into the break coasting towards victory.

The home side had lots of possession early in the second half, although created few further chances.

But it was no surprise when, on 73 minutes, they added a third through Michael West who scored as the visiting keeper went the wrong way.

Substitute Scott Ginty picked up a loose ball in the area and tucked it home at the near post for the fourth after 86 minutes.
