Fire breaks out near flats in Burch Road, Northfleet

Police and fire crews were called to a block of flats last night after a fire was started outside the building.

The emergency services were called to Burch Road at about 8.30pm.

No one was injured during the incident.

Four police vehicles and two fire engines were sent to the scene and Archie Vidler took these photos of them parked near the junction of London Road opposite the Aldi store.

Police spokesman James Walker, said: "Kent Police received a report that there was a small fire outside a property in Burch Road, Northfleet, at 8.29pm.

"The cause of the fire is not known and inquiries are ongoing."

Kirsty Gearey, spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS), added: "Crews were called out to a small amount of rubbish burning in the back garden of a property.

"Two fire engines attended and crews used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.

"There were no reported injuries."
