Abandoned car fire in Church Road, Cobham

Firefighters were called after a dumped car was found alight by the roadside.

The vehicle was discovered in Church Road, Cobham, shortly after 1.30am.

A crew from Thames-Side Fire Station attended and used a hose reel jet to extinguish the flames of the Ford Focus, which had spread to a nearby fence.

The incident was cleared in under 30 minutes and there were no reported injuries.

It is believed the car had been abandoned for several days beforehand.

Police attended the incident and the cause of the blaze is being treated as suspicious.
