A former teaching assistant must now sign on to the sex offenders’ register after admitting sending nude pictures of herself to a teenager after messaging him on Snapchat.
Chelsey Knox, from Hartley near Gravesend, not only asked the boy, who is under the age of 16, to send her pictures of his penis, she also sent him nude pictures on at least two occasions as well as sending a video of herself in the shower.
The 33-year-old mum was also convicted last year of actual bodily harm after she chased and attacked a woman she had followed in her car, leaving her with cuts to her left ear and lip, as well as severe bruising to her face.
In September that year, as a result of an early guilty plea in relation to the attack, magistrates in Sevenoaks handed her a sentence of 24 weeks in custody but they suspended the term for 18 months.
However, Knox, of Porchester Close, found herself in the dock again on Monday (June 2) when she appeared at the same court after being charged with four offences in relation to the boy she had been messaging on Snapchat.
Knox admitted the four offences which are engaging in sexual communication with a child, two counts of causing a child to watch an image of sexual activity and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
The court heard the offences happened between March 24 and April 5 last year, when she sent the boy topless pictures, a video of herself in the shower, and even one picture of herself using a sex toy. She also sent one message asking him for a picture of his penis.
The court heard Snapchat messages between the pair started in February last year, but they were not sexualised at first and just seemed to be friendly.
However, Rajni Prashar, prosecuting, added: “She then sent a message asking him to come to her house, and she sent a picture of a bottle of alcohol and said there was a party.
“She also sent a message saying he was a good lad and she had her legs on show, but she then sent a topless photo and a video of her in the shower and she asked him to send a picture of his penis.”
Magistrates decided the case should be sentenced at the higher court and it was sent to Woolwich Crown Court. Knox will learn her fate on a date to be determined.
She was granted conditional bail until then. She was also told she must sign on as a sex offender at a police station within three days as part of her notification requirements.
Anyone convicted of such sexual offences as Knox has admitted, is required by law to notify the police of their personal details and any changes to those details.
The system is designed to manage risks posed by sex offenders in the community.
