Armed police descended on a town this morning after reports that a man was in possession of weapons.

More than 10 police and ambulance vehicles were called to the scene near the A226 Milton Road in Gravesend.

A 34-year-old man was later arrested at a property in East Terrace in connection with the incident.

The road remained taped off for several hours between Prospect Grove and Milton Place.

Inquiries into the incident are ongoing.

Traffic information provider Inrix reported at 4.10pm that the A226 Milton Road had re-opened in both directions and that the police incident between Bentley Street and Milton Place was over.
