Coronavirus Kent: Higham comic Joe Pasquale trends on Twitter as workers flock to watch Doctors

Is Joe Pasquale the cure for coronavirus?

It's unlikely, but the Higham-based comic was providing a welcome distraction for newly home-bound workers as he became the hot-topic of the day on Twitter.

While many on social media were focused on the latest rise in UK Covid-19 cases, Joe's turn in an episode of BBC Doctors - in which a woman thinks everyone she meets is Joe Pasquale - provided an unlikely topic to trend on Twitter.

@holly_m_rogers tweeted: "Just want to let everyone know that Doctors has a storyline where a woman thinks everyone she meets is Joe Pasquale. And Joe Pasquale is playing all the characters. Working from home is going well."

Her observation struck a chord, being 'liked' by more than 11,600 twitter users, and was followed by many others.

"Joe Pasquale is outranking coronavirus in my Twitter trending panel. These are the dark times." wrote Chris Lynch @chrislynchwords; while @HLTCO added: "Coronavirus is taking over the world and Joe Pasquale is the top trending topic in the UK because he's starring in an episode of "Doctors" where a sick woman thinks everyone she meets is Joe Pasquale. Britain in a nutshell."

But Thomas Cogley aka @JohnnyPixels, had a worrying prediction based on the turn of events, concluding: "This is what it'll be like if the country goes into shut down. Joe Pasquale playing everyone in everything."

Well, good for Joe is it comes to that, but to be honest let's hope it won't.
